Description
Israel is isolated by regional and world players in the midst of the Arab Spring and the Palestinians' insistence on seeking UN recognition of an independent state of their own, a Lebanese expert on Israeli affairs wrote in the Beirut-based influential daily AN NAHAR on September 18. "Since a long time ago, Israel hasn't felt the political isolation it suffers today on regional and international fronts. In a matter of one week, it had to shut down its embassies in Turkey and Egypt and temporarily evacuate its embassy in Jordan," Randa Haidar said in the newspaper, recalling that the three countries were the Jewish state's main friends in the Middle East.
